The Magnificent Seven is a 1960 western film directed by John Sturges about a group of gunmen who are hired to protect a Mexican village from bandits. It is the remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 film, Seven Samurai.

The Americanized remake of ''The Seven Samurai'', stars Yul Brenner, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Horst Buchholz, Brad Dexter and James Coburn as The Magnificent Seven. They get hired to guard a Mexican village from Banditos who periodically come to take whatever the town has grown since their last visit.

When they get to the town they teach the villagers how to defend themselves. When the leader of the bandits come they successfully fight him and his men off. But on the second visit the villagers give up and hand over the seven to them, due to a heated argument. The leader of the bandits take their guns and throw them out of town. Their horses and their guns are returned to them when they get beyond the town limits. The seven decide that they won't run, and return to the village for a final showdown.
