Juno is a 2007 comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Ellen Page stars as the main character. Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman also star. Juno is a sharp-tongued teenager confronting an unplanned pregnancy.When the smart, outspoken sixteen-year-old, finds herself pregnant, she decides to give the baby up for adoption. As her pregnancy progresses, she spends time with the baby's prospective adoptive parents, Mark and Vanessa Loring. But her growing bond with Mark begins to take a turn that could throw everyone's plans into chaos.

Screenwriter Diablo Cody says any similarities to Korean film "Jenny,Juno" is merely cosmic coincidence in her blog:

"Unbeknownst to me, we had another spiritual cousin out there, a Korean movie called "Jenny, Juno", This time, the cousinry goes one step further and the movie is about – seriously – a pregnant teenager and her cute, sweet boyfriend. (The guy character is named Juno, not the girl.) There's no adoption subplot and apparently the film is otherwise dissimilar to mine, but how f--ked up is that? I bring this up because a journalist drilled me about it recently – awkward! – and also because I saw someone on our IMDb board wondering if Juno was a remake of the K-flick. So for the record, 1.) it isn't a remake 2.) I haven't seen 'Jenny, Juno,' though I want to now, and 3.) I don't think anyone would even bat an eye about this if my film was called Jenny. The name Juno is just so darned distinctive that confusion is inevitable."

Atonement

Atonement and is a 2007 film adaptation of Ian McEwan's critically acclaimed novel of the same name. It was directed by Joe Wright, and is based on the screenplay by Christopher Hampton. It is about how a series of events in the summer of 1935 and the ways in which they are interpreted change the lives of sisters Briony and Cecilia Tallis and the housekeeper's son, Robbie. Overseen exchanges between Cecilia and Robbie, a careless mistake, and an act of violence provoke an escalating tragedy of misunderstandings that center on Briony, a 13-year-old aspiring writer from an upper-class English family, and her innocent view of the adult world. Atonement was produced by Working Title Films and filmed throughout the summer of 2006 in Great Britain/France, starring James McAvoy and Keira Knightley.

Critical Acclaim

The film has received positive reviews by the vast majority. As of January 18, 2008, the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes records that 82% of 171 critics gave the film positive reviews, with a consensus that the film's "strong performances, brilliant cinematography, and lovely score make for a very successful adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel."

Roger Ebert gave it a four star review saying that the movie was "one of the year's best films, a certain for best picture nominee." The film was listed as number 3 on Empire Magazine's top 25 films of 2007.

Time magazine's Richard Corliss named the film one of the Top 10 Movies of 2007, ranking it at #4. Corliss praised the film as "first beguiling, then devastating", and singled out Saoirse Ronan as "terrific as the confused 12-year-old."

February 4, 2008: It received the Evening Standard British Film Award for Technical Achievement in Cinematography (Seamus McGarvey), Production Design (Sarah Greenwood) and Costume Design (Jacqueline Durran).

January 16, 2008: the film received 14 BAFTA nominations for the 61st British Academy Film Awards including Best Film, Best British Film and Best Director.

December 13, 2007: It received 7 Golden Globe nominations, more than any other film nominated for the 65th Golden Globe Awards.
